One Dark Night (1983)

A mysterious recluse, Karl Raymar, is found dead one morning with six similarly deceased young women also in the room. After his burial in the mausoleum, Karl’s estranged daughter Olivia comes to learn that her absent father was well known to the world of mystics, having supposedly mastered the ability of telekinesis in an attempt to cheat death. Olivia learns that his supposed skill at such an art, and his obsession with immortality were considered so great, that he had supposedly learned to suck the life energy from living beings. But his apparent death by heart attack and his subsequent burial in a crypt seems to have disproven Karl’s great power….

Donny Kohler is an unwell man. Any time Donny did anything wrong as a child, Donny’s domineering mother would punish him by holding his arms over a gas stove in an effort to “burn the sin out of him”. As a result, Donny is now detached, hearing voices and has developed an extraordinary hatred of women. His proclivities seem to be held in check until he comes home one night to find out that his mother has died. Now free of her influence, Donny lets loose and expels his pent up rage by luring unsuspecting women to his home, trapping them and then burning them alive.

Dead Heat (1988)

LAPD detectives Roger Mortis and Doug Bigelow are in the middle of trying to solve a bizarre string of bank and jewelry store robberies. They think they’ve caught a break when they manage to corner two of the supposed suspects at a jewelry store. But despite a huge police presence and clearly being shot multiple times, the robbers seem strangely unstoppable. Roger and Doug manage to kill two of the suspects in a violent shoot-out that leaves dozens of officers dead. But they quickly find out that their case is much more complicated than they thought, when one of the coroners, Rebecca, informs them that she’s seen these two men before: on her autopsy slab several days earlier. She points out the previous autopsy sutures and the photos she took of the corpses as proof.
